We don't have kids yet so amen to you sister. We don't even live on base so I feel alone 95% of the time. But I literally have nothing to complain about. He pays the bills, I have an easy job etc. So the guilt section spoke to me. I feel guilty even pondering in my head that this is hard let alone saying it out loud. Aye aye aye. Thank you for sharing!

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03085752838612472562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4540058936888043121.post-11555234546222088292015-02-11T00:51:24.647-05:002015-02-11T00:51:24.647-05:00Thank you Katherine! I don't know how I would have made it through the toddler years without the MFRC... It was my second home!

Thanks so much for your support, and keep sharing! :) BrendaOverdunnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11182123910081050259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4540058936888043121.post-24593379445857628412015-02-10T00:48:02.669-05:002015-02-10T00:48:02.669-05:00I've read this three times tonight and posting...I've read this three times tonight and posting links to it like a crazed fish monger's wife - I think that means I've been whirling around and posting?

I started out as the deployed parent, and over time have adopted the role of she who keeps the home fires burning - neither role is easy, but when deployed I had the luxury of being able to focus on the task at hand and 'not worry' about how things were at home.

It's not so easy on the home front, and I remember all too clearly trying to juggle work, two teenage daughters, the youngest in grade, and the work schedule of my spouse. Back then we did not talk about stress and coping and being up to our ears in...

There is stigma to asking for help, but the stigma is largely self directed and it certainly does not come from the base. There is help, there is respite care, there are smiles and friendly faces at the MFRC - and there are others that have been there, done that, and can give you that nod and wry smile that only a seasoned CAF spouse can do.

Superb writing Brenda :)Katherine Bickfordhttp://www.carlykb.comnoreply@blogger.com
